Tooth Extraction
Tooth removal may sound serious, but with the right care and information, it doesn’t have to be stressful.

Why a Tooth May Need to Be Removed?
Tooth extraction is sometimes necessary when a tooth is too damaged to be restored. This can happen due to severe decay, a fracture that reaches the root, or a large portion of the tooth breaking off. Wisdom teeth that cause recurring pain or infections may also need to be removed.
What Can You Expect From the Treatment?
Whatever the reason, we make sure you feel calm and well-informed throughout the process. From the initial exam to the extraction itself, our team takes the time to explain each step and provide care that is as gentle and stress-free as possible.

Tooth Extraction Aftercare
Proper aftercare is essential to support healing and prevent complications. Follow these simple guidelines during the first few days to reduce discomfort, minimize bleeding, and protect the extraction site.
• Let the bleeding stop naturally: Avoid rinsing, spitting, or using a straw for the first few hours to allow the blood clot to form and stay in place.
• Wait before eating or drinking: Do not eat or drink anything for at least two hours after the procedure, and stick to soft, lukewarm foods for the first 24 hours.
• Avoid physical strain and smoking: Skip intense exercise and avoid smoking or anything that creates suction in the mouth, as these can trigger renewed bleeding or delay healing.
• Monitor for unusual pain or swelling: Some swelling and soreness are normal, but if pain increases after 4–5 days, contact your dentist to rule out infection.

How does it work?

Before the Extraction
X-rays are taken to assess the position, shape, and size of the tooth roots to ensure a gentle and safe removal. If the case is more complex, a referral to an oral surgeon may be needed. The area is numbed with local anesthesia, and you will be checked to make sure you are fully comfortable before the procedure begins. Pressure and vibration may still be felt, but additional anesthesia can be given if needed.

During the Extraction
The tooth is gently loosened using precise movements to release the fibers holding it in place. Once the tooth is mobile, it is carefully lifted out. The area is then checked, and bleeding is managed. If an upper molar is removed, you may be asked to blow with your nose pinched to check for a possible connection to the sinus. Stitches may be placed if necessary.

When the Case Is Complex
Some teeth have multiple roots or are positioned in ways that make removal more difficult. In these cases, the tooth may be divided into sections to remove it safely. Impacted wisdom teeth or broken crowns may require a small incision in the gum and removal of surrounding bone. Your dentist will inform you of this in advance.
